This programme focuses on practical production based skills, with a mix of theory knowledge based learning. It is designed to prepare students for further training in the primary industries by providing foundational skills for the work and farm environment. These are skills considered vital when beginning a career in agriculture. Students will have the opportunity to implement, practice and improve their knowledge and skills on commercial farms in managed scenarios during their training.

PROGRAMME CONTENT
Primary production tasks include activities such as:
- assist with handling livestock and stock feeding
- basic fencing skills
- water supply maintenance
- safely operating a quadbike
- working safely and managing hazards in a rural workplace.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
- Applicant must be 16 years or over and preferably not hold an existing Level 1 or 2 qualification.
- Applicant must be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident.
- Applicant can meet the physical demands of farm work.
- Applicant must have a reasonable level of fitness required to carry out duties on farm and can meet the physical demands of farm work.
