PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION

 The Diploma is available through Taratahi in the Wairarapa and is ideal for students wanting to obtain more advanced qualifications whilst working.  Taratahi offers the Lincoln University Diploma in Agriculture as a part-time option.

Primary production today is much more than traditional farming. The agriculture industry is an essential part of New Zealand’s economy. Opportunities in agriculture will continue to exist for well educated people at all levels in the industry. The regional Diploma will be offered over two 12 week semesters each year. Students will normally take two papers per semester. Students completing four papers per year can expect to complete the qualification over two years.

PATHWAYS / OUTCOMES

This qualification provides great staircasing options for students completing Level 4 with Taratahi, and those in the workforce who may wish to advance their studies.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

If you have a New Zealand University Entrance Qualification, you have already met the admission requirements. You will also qualify if you have achieved 40 credits at NCEA level 2 over 4 of the subjects recognized by Lincoln University for entry. If you do not hold an Entrance qualification, are a New Zealand resident AND over the age of 20, then you are eligible for ‘Special Admission’. Successful completion of approved courses at polytechnics, industry training organizations (such as a National Certificate or Diploma) and other tertiary institutions may also fulfil the entry requirements and qualify you for admission. You must also meet the literacy and numeracy requirements for university entrance.

For those students wishing to continue on after completing the Lincoln Diploma in Agriculture – some diploma subjects may be credited towards bachelor’s degrees in Agriculture, Agricultural Science or Commerce (Agriculture). If you have completed an acceptable tertiary qualification at another New Zealand institution, you can apply for practical work equivalent credit for the Lincoln University Diplomas in Agriculture or Horticulture.
