As well as being farmers and educators, our staff are part of both large and small communities and understand the importance of communities working together.

Get Ahead is a great national programme, designed to showcase careers in agriculture.  We’ve been supporting this for a number of years, working alongside Dairy NZ and Beef & Lamb New Zealand.

EPIC Challenge is a two week programme run by the Young Enterprise Trust has year 10 students researching careers in the primary sector

Golden Shears Taratahi students have been helping with the Golden Shears competition since the 1950s.  It’s just one of the competitions that we contribute to.

Hoof & Hook Competition.  Future Beef New Zealand is an organisation that aims to provide young people with an opportunity to learn about and become involved in the beef industry.  Our students are regular competitors (and winners) of the annual Hoof & Hook competition.  One of our former staff members was also Beef Ambassador of the Year for 2013.  

beef + lamb New Zealand Sheep Industry Awards.  At Taratahi we take pride in contributing to the primary sector.  At our core we are farmers who train so it’s pleasing to be recognised by beef & lamb (by farmers, for farmers) as the 'Primary ITO Trainer of the year 2014'. 

Taratahi Shepherd of the Year Competition.  Taratahi is the sponsor of this annual competition in the Wairarapa which recognises excellence in shepherding.  The Taratahi Shepherd of the Year event is part of the Wairarapa Farm Business of the Year competition.  The 2014 Taratahi Shepherd of the Year is Jason Powell.

Graduation is a highlight of a student’s life. The annual Taratahi Wairarapa Graduation ceremony is no exception, and is one of the biggest events in the region, with close to 500 people attending.We are delighted to announce that Graduation for our 2016 students will be held on 24 March 2017. We are giving advanced warning of the date to allow parents and students time to book travel to this event.
