TATC - Student Living

Living on Campus

The main Taratahi campus is situated 11kms south of Masterton, the Wairarapa’s largest town. We are within 1 ½ hours of both Palmerston North and Wellington. The campus is ideally situated in the heart of our dairy operation. Our classrooms and workshops are all on campus as well. The sheep and beef properties are all situated within Wairarapa.

Facilities

The Wairarapa campus boasts a gymnasium, common room with pool table, Sky TV and Playstation. There is a swimming pool as well as a computer suite with smart, new computers which students can use to help with course work or for personal use for free. The dining hall is a popular place around meal times where students have 3 hearty meals a day cooked for them. We can cater for most dietary requirements. Each student has their own room with a bed, desk, wardrobe and heater.

Extra-curricular activities

Taratahi is in close proximity to lots of activities that make the area so popular. During their time spent at Taratahi, our students have access to a wide range of outdoor and sporting activities including tramping, horse riding, surfing, hockey, small bore rifle shooting and hunting and fishing. Staff also organise quiz nights, guest speakers, ‘Sheepies versus Dairies’ competitions, movie nights out and a whole lot more. Check out the calendar and what's on each month for more information.

Student Council

Student Council is a really important part of life at Taratahi. The Council members are voted in by the other students. They meet every fortnight and tackle issues relating to students – activities, campus, behavior; basically the entire learning experience. The meeting is minuted and there are committee members taking positions such as Chairperson, Secretary and Finance.
