TATC - National Certificate in Agriculture

National Certificate in Agriculture

Level 4 - Dairy or Sheep

The second year programme allows students to spend more time learning on the job whilst placed on farms in the Wairarapa. It is supported with a theory component delivered by qualified tutors with relevant industry experience. Study at this level is more self-directed, and requires students to be analytical in their approach to comparing and understanding farm management practices.

The core compulsory section includes more understanding of a vast array of farming practices. This experience and knowledge is used to construct a detailed farm report which is a major component of this qualification.

This programme can also be completed extramurally, with Taratahi staff visiting students while in full-time farming employment.

Programme Entry Requirements

Prior to acceptance to this course, students should have completed 40 weeks of training at Taratahi or 34 weeks at Stratford. Direct entry is also possible for students with a high level of agricultural knowledge and experience. Selection of these students is considered on a case by case basis.

Overseas Exchange

Subject to certain conditions, second year students can take part in a unique overseas exchange with Walford North Shropshire College in the United Kingdom.  This three week exchange offers opportunities to experience different farming practices and techniques as well as enjoying what international travel has to offer.  Taratahi meets some of the costs towards this once in a lifetime opportunity.

Fees

Please contact the office for information on fees.
